True kvlt: Lvctvs, Purge of Relics, TSGO, Fretting Obscurity

This is going to be a good one! We’ve got bands that scream in French, Spanish, a bit of German, and of course, our favorite colonial language, English (luckily, cats are mysterious creatures that speak in tongues). We’re going full international, but despite some quirks, we’re sticking to hostile/doomy themes. Fasten your seatbelts, because even if you hate everything we’re throwing at you now, it won’t leave you unfazed. Let’s go!

Lvctvs –Sobredosis de Pensamientos Fúnebres: This album is deeply oppressive, depressing, nihilistic, and straight-up postmodern, with tracks that boast the lowest production value in Funeral Doom. I love the exploration of death and its take from a Heideggerian and Nietzschean perspective (I may despise them, but I’ve done my continental reading, philosophy nerds!). It’s long, crushing, horrendous. The loudness of the synths and mushy drums almost killed me, but it’s exactly what dying painfully probably sounds like. Plus, this thing comes from Venezuela, a country on the verge of losing it all (Hasta el final! Stay strong guys!). Respect to anyone making Metal in truly extreme places! Click here!

Purge of Relics – Death by Integrity: I know the promo labeled this track as Hardcore with Thrash, but to me, it feels more like Hardcore with Grindcore! It’s pure violence and stress relief. Even though I usually like my Metal less direct (give me some foreplay, at least!), this track sounds better than most pointless Grindcore out there by simply adding a pinch of variety. See how far small contrasts can get you, kids? Click here!

The Shadows Gone Out – John Doe / Final Alert: Alright, I had a hard time deciding whether to include this because I wasn’t even sure if it was Metal, but music is a continuum, not a set of boxes. So, I dared to listen to this strange mix of Electronic with Metal that I could only compare to Ulver‘s Perdition City and anything from Perturbator. Basically, it’s Electronic music made in an extreme Metal style, so it’s not for most of you, but it’s still interesting if you want something different. It had to, of course, come from the land of weird Metal: La France! Click here!

Fretting Obscurity – Das Unglückliche Bewußtsein: What could be more Central/Eastern European than a darker representation of Greek tragedy? There’s less hysteria in this album than in Lvctvs, of course. It’s a slow burn that erodes your will to live. It reminds me a bit of SLOW and Evoken, so be prepared to be smashed by the slowest riffs in the universe. Some sections are repetitive, and it’s too long, but I like the production, the atmosphere, and the art. It creates a haunting world of horrifying mythology. Also, another album from Ukraine, a place that hasn’t stopped producing excellent Metal despite the horrors it’s going through. Respect! Click here!

There you go, only strange bands today from all over the world. You can’t accuse us of having a Nordic or USA bias like many other sites now (we dislike everyone equally!). We’ve done our part! it’s your turn: go support these artists who are selling their work for criminally low prices!
