It’s Sunday again! Which means the deepest and filthiest corners of the metal underground get a chance to throw us a few bones. You know how it is: we’ll review almost anything here—even your bedroom synth project. However, we can’t guarantee our words will be flattering. You send your stuff at your own risk! Either way, this week we have some new and old faces from across the metal spectrum. Are you ready? Because I’m not!

Lvctvs – La Inconmensurable Desesperanza que Habita en Nuestra Existencia: Ok, let’s talk about this title. For those who don’t know Spanish, let me tell you—it’s not uplifting at all. Yet, Lvctvs has dramatically changed its sound, even if this album retains the same spirit. Probably it’s just the huge improvement in production that we’re hearing. Don’t worry, it still sounds like it was recorded in an abandoned health institution, just not in the toilet of said institution. Raw, harrowing, painful. A tough listen to accompany your existential dread. Yes, the tracks are super long, but I appreciate Atmospheric Black Metal that at least attempts to evolve. Click here!

Sinsation – Only The Strong: This one’s just a single, and it’s quite different from what we usually review at MER. It’s closer to Heavy Metal and radio Rock, so for once, someone has sent me something digestible—something I could put on in the background at a gathering without my friends questioning the shattered state of my mental health. Oh, and it’s catchy! It’s fun. Sometimes, we do need that! Click here!

Primordial Black – Monas Hieroglyphica: Now this is interesting. It’s actually well-produced—you can hear the bass! Primordial Black puzzles me—why don’t these guys have a label yet? This strange mix between Blackened Death and Shining-like vocals, all cooked up at mid-tempo, is kind of fresh. Though I usually don’t dig this approach, the band takes it to new places. Sure, there are things to polish writing-wise, but there’s a lot of potential in this EP. Get these people more clout now! Click here!
Our debt to the underground has been paid for another week. Hopefully, the rabid masses will rest now. Next week, we’ll bring more bands. Our true kvlt schedule is finally looking less insane, so we might be able to answer faster (famous last words before you all send me hundreds of requests). You don’t need faith in humanity—you just need faith in the cat. Which cat? Any cat! We lead a cat cult here after all!
