Catto writes edgy lyrics part II

Metalcatto

Here we go again in an attempt to capture the spirit of extreme Metal and its lyrical… creativity. Let’s see how it goes!

Square, triangles, and other forms
That make this track feel deeper than none

Circles drawn in candle smoke
Suggest meanings never spoken

But in darkness the invisible rainbow shines
And the laments of the goats vehemently start

They cry in minor chords
Across a frostbitten horizon of vague despair

It’s the last time I do this
At least until the next verse

But what is this?

Nobody knows, but the lyrics needed an easy trick
And unspecified, random articles will do

Ancient winds whisper through forgotten nouns
While adjectives wander without purpose

Because nothing is more trve
Than bending all the rules

Invoking shadows that explain nothing
Yet somehow sound profound

And making no sense is the norm
So then things make some sense

Mountains of metaphors collapse into fog
Symbols drift like ash in winter air

I don’t know, you don’t know
But Satan would know!

Because without him there is no song
Without naming the infernal lord

The riff demands a sacrifice
Preferably something vaguely symbolic

A raven circles an unnamed forest
Which represents something important

Or maybe nothing at all
But it certainly sounds mysterious

And somewhere a goat nods approvingly
As the chorus repeats forever

For this is the ancient formula
Of darkness, frost, and confusion

Where meaning is optional
But atmosphere is mandatory

And thus the song is complete
Eternal, obscure, and gloriously unclear.
