God Dethroned – The Judas Paradox

Look at that art! It’s my thing! Despite a long career full of twists and turns, God Dethroned is still here, ready to show us that making Blackened Death Metal is an art few bands have mastered to this level. However, I won’t lie—it’s been a while since the band really hit me in the liver, more precisely since Under the Sign of the Iron Cross (oh, people! That title would get you in so much trouble today!). Yet, we’re all in for redemption and a return to form here. So, is The Judas Paradox a fresh slap in our faces, or is it going to punch like a two-year-old? Stick around!

Codex Mortis – Tales of Woe

Here at MER, we strive to follow state-of-the-art Metal. However, we sometimes deny our roots, occasionally talking friendly trash about those who came before us. Enter Codex MortisTales of Woe, a band trying to capture the spirit of the second wave of Black Metal (but meaner). It’s an extremely difficult task! You might be thinking, “What does The Catto mean? It’s been done to death”. Precisely, my child! How is this going to surprise us when “pure” Black Metal has become a constant trip to the past? Let’s find out!

Ceremony of Silence – Hálios

Slovakian Metal might seem alien to you, just as it would to me if I hadn’t visited Slovakia. There isn’t much to say about the country—great food, impressive castles, but the customer service can be terrible. This deadly combination almost begs for the creation of interesting heavy music. So, you might wonder if I’m writing this review in advance to gain a competitive edge. Well, yes and no. Ceremony of Silence is my kind of band, and just a glimpse of the cover art of Hálios makes me salivate more than free food at a boring conference.
