True kvlt: Embers Ignite, Hell In the Skies, Arkan Al’Fawda, The Impending Blindess

Here we go again! We have a few EPs and albums submitted by you, our beloved readers who keep our hearts pumping but bring no food to our tables (how do you feel about that, you freeloaders?). That’s okay, I’ll forgive you for now… let the judging begin!

Help us grow our population to surpass that of San Marino.

Embers IgniteEmbers Ignite: This is FIRE!!! Alright, I’ll try to calm down. This MeloDeath project, clearly influenced by the Finnish and Swedish scenes, might get stuck on some riffs, but the riffs are so good! And the last track—talk about how to close an EP. Embers Ignite has so much potential, and I enjoyed this way more than I expected. In fact, whenever an album is out, it’s definitely going to get a full review here. In the meantime, please click here!

Hell In the SkiesII: Ok, let’s be honest—II is usually not what I go for. It has that Bro Metal feel that often alienates me. That said, this is really accessible, and the vocals are catchier than the plague. The EP is well-balanced and engaging, with variety and room to breathe between ideas. So, despite my initial reservations, I’d say if you miss late 2000s Metal, this is a more updated take on that. Click here!

Arkan Al’FawdaDar Al’Shaytan: Have you ever wondered what Nile would sound like if they slowed down and had even more Middle Eastern influences? No? Well, Arkan Al’Fawda is answering anyway. In this EP, the band shows tons of talent and interesting ideas that honestly kind of surprised me. It’s rough around the edges (True kvlt production), but it has its warmth and charm. They don’t make Death Metal like this anymore! I liked this crusty sound that takes a bit more time to hit us. It uses its limited resources wisely. Click here!

The Impending BlindnessMisanthropica: Well, this was weird (nice name though!). I’m sure this album has its audience. It offers instrumental Death/Doom, which is an interesting and kind of risky idea. So, I’ll give credit to the project for that. Perhaps I would’ve liked it more without all the conversations happening in the background that took me away from the solid riffs, even if they did have a good immersion effect. The production is really dusty here, so be prepared for something different. Click here!

Another few EPs and albums down the pipeline, and we’re coming close to finally breaking even with your demands, which means that probably your time will come, my fellow musician and reader. Also, if we take the time to write about your music, could you at least promote the article? Some of you are really slow with the ruthless promoting! This is a dog-eat-dog world, and I’m hungry!
