True kvlt: Bønes, Wino Gandara & Aether Void

There aren’t too many True kvlt numbers left this year, so this one’s packed with action and singles. Yes, I—like some of you (only some)—have a life and can’t spend all my time telling you what to listen to. But hey! Let’s enjoy this group of strange bands. Some are new, some are old, but all are honorable members of our lovely community. Let’s roll!

BønesSweet Agony: The band and single titles speak for themselves. This is Death Metal with that depressive touch so many of you love to cry to. I appreciate that Bønes takes a more Dark Lunacy approach to the style, with music that actually progresses through ideas instead of dragging on. Granted, the mix could be cleaner, but we’ll reserve judgment until the full album drops. In the meantime, click here and punch yourself in the face while listening to this sad track.

Wino GandaraDesertic Rain: Does that title make sense? I don’t know, but what I do know is that Desertic Rain is trippier and more chilled than your wildest dreams on benzos (not that I’d know, of course). This is Heavy Metal with a Psychedelic touch and hints of Prog, but Wino Gandara keeps it accessible without betraying its roots. It’s a refreshing change. Click here!

Aether VoidOf Rage and Grief: Remember when I said this was a singles article? I lied! Here’s an album, but don’t worry—it’s pure tradition. If you like Heavy Metal with 90% clean, catchy tunes and 10% brain-bashing moments (plus fun guitar solos), this one’s for you. Sure, you’ve heard it all before, but probably not in the last 15 years, and not with this level of production. If your knees are already cracking, why not give Of Rage and Grief a try? It might make you forget the pain for a while. Click here!

As my PhD supervisor used to say: “Keep it real, keep it short, keep it stupid”. So, give the deep underground a few minutes of your time. Let’s be honest—you’re more likely to find the love of your life in this article than on any dating app. Why not give these singles/albums a chance and fall in love? It’s free!
