True kvlt: Tria Prima, Mindistry & Eisige Venen

Hi there, my corpse-painted children. I’m not saying much today because the MER crew has way better things to say. This is a special True Kvlt edition, so let’s get to it!

Tria PrimaThree Primes of Alchemy: Are you a Death Metal fan looking for something different? Tria Prima is just what you need. This Ukrainian death metal band blends elements of doom and dungeon synth with hints of symphonic metal woven into their sound. Their name is inspired by alchemy, referring to the three fundamental principles—Sulfur, Mercury, and Salt—which are reflected in their track titles. Despite being a young band, their vocalist delivers a powerful performance, adding an impressive intensity to their music. The instrumental work is equally remarkable, with each element coming together to create a well-crafted listening experience. Tria Prima’s full-length album is set for release in the second half of 2025. Highly recommended for fans of Kataklysm. Click here!

Mindistry – Dunkelgrau: A little heads-up—this single is going to be released sometime around May 2025. I listened to its demo version in premiere thanks to Gustaf Hammarin, the man behind Mindistry, so I can tell you exactly what to expect from this Gothenburg-based Industrial/Power/Thrash Metal maestro. I want to note that the track is performed in Swedish, with some parts in German, and that it sounds a bit as if you were to cross Rammstein with Hammerfall, Månegarm, and Entombed—it sounds better than you think. If you’re looking for something that will make you believe that Industrial Metal is truly an underrated genre (and that Industrial Metal means more than what you hear on the radio), Mindistry is your go-to band. Eisige Venen The Mourning Frost: Heavy Metal has often been the means of realizing our wildest dreams. Embarking on a heroic quest, saving the galaxy from an alien invasion, or finding a safe haven in the heart of enchanted lands—everything is possible with a guitar and a few plugins for your synths. All you need is a little bit of talent and a few ideas. The Melodic/Atmospheric Black Metal band Eisige Venen is another artist entertaining a similar ambition, as on their newest EP The Mourning Frost, the musicians decided to take us on a romantic, dreamy journey in the vein of Firienholt, Belore, and Cân Bardd, but with a more concise, song-oriented approach. The synth work is the undeniable highlight of this mini-album, as the electronic and piano sounds enshroud the listener in a soft, wistful glow. The project is yet to realize its full potential, however, since, in my opinion, the band could step up their guitar game and work a bit (OK, actually, a lot) on the vocals. The writing definitely shows promise, so let’s hope these musicians can match their vision with their performance in the future. Click here!

You know the drill: support the bands, follow our writers, and stay out of trouble (sometimes!). Until next week.
