You might say that I’ve been away from True kvlt for a few weeks. Some of you might even get impatient, but what can I do if the last two weekends haven’t been packed with interesting releases from the heavyweights? It’s an unfair and cruel world, but we all gotta chase the clout, right? Anyway, it’s time to return to the humble task of showing small projects that against all odds survive another day. Let’s get to it now!

Trivan – Blackened Heart’s Pledge: This is a single and it’s just a bliss of aggression and Thrash energy. It’s focused, almost like a less polished version of Hellbutcher, which is always refreshing in the scene and yet it gets “Neoclassical” at times? Trivan can make fun music with a good dose of creativity. Yes, it’s all primitive in a way, but sometimes you need to cut to the chase to feel alive. I wouldn’t be surprised if the band starts to get more attention soon, so remember, we wrote about it first! Click here!

Neocracy – Revenge: Another single and with that name you’d think it’d be as brutal as passing a kidney stone, but it’s not that simple. Neocracy shows so much potential here! Yes, the production could be more polished, but to be this catchy and wacky at the same time, it’s extremely uncommon and hard to pull off. How is this band a hipster/alternative darling is still a mystery to me. Imagine if you had a Prog Death band mixed with a Radio Rock one, that’s what Revenge sounds like. Do I need to say more? Click here!

Tuscoma – The Reality Check: Yes, you guessed it’s a single. It’s loud as a rocket just to warn you. It’s hard to identify the genre Tuscoma is going for here – is it like Industrial with Sludge and some Avant-Garde? It sounds like being high on something really unpleasant and yet it captured my attention from the first minute. The vocals remind me a lot of Anaal Nathrakh. That should help you imagine how hysterical this track can get. Click here!

Xiphos – The Age of Alexander: This one actually is an album and let’s be clear, Xiphos is a Metal band in spirit not in form. It appeals to the part of our community who likes epics and atmosphere. You do feel you’re listening to an opera about Alexander the Great, one that is surprisingly easy to follow. Just don’t expect any blasting extreme Metal here, it’s more of an experimental work that attempts to have a strong narrative. There’s no doubt in my mind that this oddity will gather the attention of some diehards out there. Click here!
There we go! Some bands from the pit that were much better than I expected. In fact, I’d be interested in what they do next because they have promising (not profitable, nothing is profitable in Metal) careers in this sad world. Anyway, until next time my corpse-painted children!
