True kvlt: Wurmian, Drunkard, & Carving Void

Pegah & Metalcatto

It’s that time of the week again—you’re all still out there, busy sending me material left and right, which means the review queue is slowly getting longer. But don’t despair, my junior musicians—we’ll get to you one day. Then again, maybe today is your lucky day. Anyway, I brought Pegah to help me with the mountain of work we always seem to have here at MER. Let’s get to it!

WurmianImmemorial Shrine: This is a solo Melodic Death/Doom Metal project. The debut release blends raw, powerful vocals with energetic rhythms and melodic structures that lean more toward MeloDeath. The atmospheric depth is where the Doom tag likely comes from—lyrically dark and emotionally heavy. Sonically, it echoes the expansive atmospheres of bands like Enshine and Fractal Gates, making it a welcome find for fans still waiting on new material from those acts. Immemorial Shrine delivers a fresh yet familiar soundscape, perfect for anyone drawn to the melodic and atmospheric edges of Death Metal. Click here!

DRUNKARDBorn As Demons: First off, doesn’t this band have a lovely name? Anyway, this one offers a good balance between Thrash and Death Metal, sticking to the basics in a way that still feels fun. There’s groove, there’s catchiness, and despite the aggressive tone, it’s got that bouncy rhythm that makes you nod your head. You’ve probably heard something similar before, but the energy is there—and those of you who love your riffs to sound like a trotting horse will probably enjoy this single more than your average brutal band. Carving VoidSuffocate All Life: Let’s return to something closer to classic Death Metal now. This album isn’t out yet, but it’s already promising a groovy beatdown. There’s all the blood and gore the kids love, and yes, I’ll say it again—we’ve definitely been here before. But Carving Void keeps things mostly at a comprehensible tempo, which allows those tasty riffs to shine a bit more. That’s something we definitely appreciate around here. Don’t worry though—there’s still plenty of rawness; it’s just delivered with a certain degree of restraint and malevolence. Click here!

Well, it wasn’t my plan to do a Death Metal special, or even a “new” bands special, but hey—life is what happens when you’re trying to make plans. I won’t delay you any longer. Next time, we’ll hopefully have a stranger blend of bands in this section. See you then. Cheers!
