True kvlt: Primal Gaze, Desu Taem, MavAngelo, Catherine, Uniporn & Patior Eugea

You keep bombing us with stuff, so no intro! Let’s go!

Primal GazeNapalm Gospel: As you know, at MER we do our best to dodge the Core subgenres, but Primal Gaze adds a more underground and dirty touch to a genre that’s usually accused of being too neat and predictable. Sure, it stays loyal to the violence of the genre, but it does it by dipping its toes more into Death Metal rather than just throwing random breakdowns over and over. It’s definitely something different from the classic formula, and I can respect that for once. Click here!

Desu TaemI Will Not Be Assimilated: At first, I was a bit suspicious about the track titles, but if you just want blasting and quick tracks that bring back the old times, then this is your jam! Don’t worry, there’s some instrumental prowess here too for those who like shredding. Everything is over so fast that maybe you can click play again. It’s low risk, decent reward, and that’s what you want from your Heavy Metal. Click here!

MavAngeloThe Great War: For once, this isn’t a WWI reference track. If anything, this is about the war you fight inside yourself every day. It’s touching Post-Rock that we all need sometimes because not all we review is mayhem; sometimes we bring you emotional healing. And that’s what this track offers. Even with its less polished production elements, you can still feel its vulnerable and comforting nature piercing through your armor. Also, who doesn’t like an atmospheric track like this that goes straight to the point? That’s a lost art—bring it back! Click here!

Catherine ElmsRitual: Let’s speak about something spookier and even more Industrial. It’s strange how this track manages to balance the decay and filth of mechanical distortions with Catherine’s ethereal voice, which mimics Sylvaine at times. It’s a vocal-heavy track by default, and I’m thankful that it sticks to simplicity and doesn’t become some kind of ego trip for the singer. It stays dark and mysterious to the end, and I can respect that. Also, the production is top-notch for the style. Click here!

UnipornPushin’ Too Hard: I know, these names leave little room for interpretation. You might even be wondering if this is as edgy as it seems. And the answer is, I’m not sure. The track sticks to a catchy Punk formula that has interesting moments of sonic experimentation, something I wouldn’t expect from a band that somehow reminds me of Steel Panther. It’s still fun and direct. You don’t need pretentious musical knowledge to understand what’s going on, and that has its value. Click here!

Patior EugeaEl Paroxismo de la Zozobra: Don’t worry, money hasn’t totally changed us. We still review rancid Black Metal for free here and there, and that’s what this EP is all about. Kvlt production hits hardest when those truly disgusting vocals overwhelm you. The instruments stick to those depressing vibes that we’ve come to love in the genre. I’m not sure what’s going on in Venezuela, but every release we get from there defies the limits of the kvlt approach. Not for the ones with sensitive ears. Click here!

Well, that was an interesting round. If you want to submit your track and don’t want to wait forever, then send it to me here! Otherwise, suck it up and wait!
