True kvlt: Apeiron Bound, Murdery, Valkeneva Korppi, Cranium Rubrum, & Norblut

Metalcatto

We have so many submissions, we need an extra day for them. So here we go!

Apeiron BoundRebirth: We never get Prog in this section, even less Prog Death, which is why I’m excited to introduce you to this track that sounds like a diabolical take on bands like In Mourning, Textures, or In Vain. There’s beauty, but also crazy amount of brutality and technicality. Actually, I’m going to say, do these guys have an album? Because it’d be awesome to review the whole thing! In the meantime, enjoy this madness!

MurderyThe Bloody Court: Now maybe you’re looking for something less bizarre, well Murdery is pure hostile energy. Just listen to those vocals that sound like somebody got their throats destroyed by tobacco. It’s just direct, aggressive and perfect for when you want to throw your boss off the window. If you love old Cannibal Corpse, or Napalm Death, this is a more polished take on that classic formula.

Valkeneva KorppiHiljainen Laulumme: You know Finland is synonym of quality when it comes to MeloDeath and this project is no expectation. I’m going to pull an old one and say this track reminds me to Dominia‘s Divine Revolution, but with better riffs and no violin. It’s that atmosphere of long lost times that really captures you here. I can’t avoid but feeling certain degree of nostalgia here, and maybe you could too!

Cranium RubrumUmbra Mortis: Look at me covering a Romanian band and not being Vicky or Ixone. If you dig depressive and atmospheric Black Metal, where something actually happens and the production is acceptable, then you should try this track out! It focuses more on the melodic and bleak side of the subgenre, ending up with something that’s catchier than it should. The main riffs might overstate its welcome a bit, but that there are enough things goin on to keep you entertained.

NorblutBis zum letzten Mann: Let’s wrap this up with some Heathern Black Metal from Austria. It’s harsh, nasty, full of that battle feeling you want in this niche, but also a melodic touch that reminds me a lot to old Amon Amarth. This is a Blackended Death take to it. It wouldn’t surprise me if this band gets somewhere in the future. They have all the components to attract the middle earth geeks. Also, the vocals are nasty in all the right ways. So enjoy this wild trip kids!
