You know what’s up, click below and see what underground darling we found this week! Maybe you’ll be surprised!
Baneful Tongue – Baneful Tongue: It had been a while since someone sent us a promo that implied we should suffer through it. That made me laugh, so of course this surprisingly decent mix of old-school Death Metal and Black Metal got my attention with its rage, dirty production, and direct savagery. I mean, those other kinds are gross. This is the good stuff for Ixione. I’m pleasantly surprised!
Temper – Rock With Temper: Yes, that name is hilarious too. The track brings back that 80s glam feeling without the cringe. It has that arena Rock vibe long lost to time and greed. It’s an enjoyable and short trip that reminds you epic tracks don’t need to be ten minutes long; they can be three minutes long. So, put this on in your car or your trashy headphones and have fun!
Bloodmoon Rite – Omen: Not every day a track from Uzbekistan comes to us (but I know those people, I’ve wrestled them!). This is more intense and dramatic Heavy Metal with synths. It’s pretty catchy and direct. It doesn’t abuse speed, and it trusts its writing—that’s rare in a genre known for overdoing the same tropes. These guys clearly love Dio and Candlemass, and I can only see positives in that!
Arcaine – Eternal Burden: Now, these guys are planning to blast your ears a bit harder than average. I guess we could call this rather aggressive MeloDeath, which seems redundant, but we know the genre is often seen as the soft side of Death Metal. Well, this isn’t soft, even if it’s still fun. Arcaine remains committed to hitting you hard in the guts and making its music feel like a journey to another time.
Desu Taem – Batman on Acid & Dark Cloud Ernie: Our main patrons are here. Yes, the first track is as serious as that title indicates, so expect something catchy and direct. The other track is even more nostalgic and reminiscent of the 80s. I’m not sure what Desu Taem‘s game is, but it seems to be a project that has three parallel albums going on at the same time. Some are funnier than others, but they’re always aimed at cheering you up, or at least that’s the way it feels to me.
