Yes, I’m early, because you people send me too much stuff.
Lighthouse Surf – Vortex: Well, this was particular. You could call it ultra-synthetic Power Metal. There’s a violin that pretty much leads the track all the way. There are vocals, but at times the whole thing feels instrumental. The production is dense and saturated, to the point where I really wondered if it was meant for this style. But you’ve gotta figure that out alone. It’s an odd mix of symphonic ambition and raw execution.
Coleptiz – The Living Dead: Is this song about zombies? Maybe. But it doesn’t sound anything like you’d expect. It has a more Prog Rock vibe than Death or Doom, with some long and complicated melancholy attached to it. At times, it took on a more Radio Rock touch that might bring in those who are intimidated by long tracks. Not bad at all. The melody sticks, the arrangement is thoughtful, and the whole thing feels like it belongs on a late-night drive rather than a mosh pit. A pleasant surprise.
Desu Taem – Ground Zero Girl / Probably Wrong: These guys send us a million tracks per month, so we gotta keep working. This is more of your easy, low-budget, straightforward Rock, without much ambition aside from making you giggle given how gimmicky it gets at times. So don’t get too serious and laugh a bit for once.
Escapeinout – The Wait: Yay. Finally some Death Metal. It’s not as heavy as I expected at first—there are some soft moments—but most of it is tight, dense, and metallic as it gets. It’s a strange mix indeed. If it’s a winning combo, only time will tell. But for now, I’d say these guys could gain a few more fans faster than slower. Just don’t expect ultra-technical moments. Things stay basic here.
Lost Legacy – Take Me Away: So, first I thought this would be some corny affair, but no—I was wrong. Okay, there is some sentimentality here, but if you like your Heavy Metal dramatic and slightly epic, then this is probably what you want. It’s not revolutionary, but it’ll keep you entertained for a while before you scroll to something else and continue the quest for another adrenaline rush.
