I’m late again!
Ka’Una – Piranha Der Consumptie: What a weird track, people. Truly harrowing and scary. At times it’s Death Metal, then Goth, then just an atmospheric void. It’s really strange and as uncomfortable as it gets. The transitions are jarring and the atmosphere is thick. Not for the faint of heart, but for those who like their music unpredictable.
Desu Taem Broken Spider Aquarium, Amish Slam Dancing Quartet, & Taking My Groceries Home on a Pogo Stick: I don’t know why they keep sending us stuff. It’s the same parody music that has made us realize to what extent we’re willing to look the other way for a few laughs, because at this point the music makes fun of itself. It’s a gimmick that has worn thin for some. Either way, they keep coming. Make of that what you will.
Lafayette – Hell for Leather: Ultra loud and mechanically produced Deathcore? It’s brutal and hostile. A freaking wall of sound for those of you who don’t mind losing your sense of hearing. It’s not subtle, but it’s not trying to be. If you want something that will pummel you into submission, this is it.
Mickey Lyxx – Dolores: Another familiar face in this section. Mickey keeps bringing us back to the glory days of Hair Metal, but without all the cringe associated with it. We end up with a traditional and more epic track, and for the oldies, that’s okay. It’s not revolutionary, but it’s executed with love.
Egres – Sammal: Colorful and wacky would be a way to describe this track that jumps between weird Folk and MeloDeath constantly, but at the same time it stays radio-friendly. Not for everyone, but definitely interesting. It’s a strange blend, but it works more often than it doesn’t. If you’re in the mood for something different, give it a spin.
