Who the heck is Dikajee? This was my first question. However, The Frame came from a good promoter, so why not believe in her? Nothing like a good Kickstarter to fund an album. I’m not being sarcastic. This tells me that the project aims to have complete creative freedom and a good budget. That gives me hope to have something that will finally surprise me in the Prog Rock department this year.
The Frame makes this freedom count. Imagine Chelsea Wolfe had a collaboration with Myrkur, but also kept it all extremely Prog. That’s what we have here. A fearless and emotionally deep journey that balances its moments of power and vulnerability really well. I’m not saying get sad, but this is like being alone in the night playing over and over that depressing track you always put on when you feel like jumping off a cliff. It’s harsh, but keeps you safe. You won’t do anything too crazy!
I think it’s evident that our vocalist here is giving it all, but not in an over-the-top way. Instead, it’s with delicate and constant work that will break your heart. There’s an army of guests here that proves once again that in music, it’s not how good you are, it’s how many friends can tag along—networking, kids. With or without talent, that’s the key. The heavier and more distorted moments are used properly to count. There’s a lot going on, but not in a crazy way. It’s a slow burn.

It’s tricky. This isn’t my usual jam, but I acknowledge the work. Yet it expresses that pain I find so reliable. Perhaps at times, the middle of the album gets too calm for my taste, which made me fear we’d end with a snooze. But Dikajee understands songwriting, so the last two tracks elevate the whole experience. Still, I wouldn’t mind a deeper Goth dive or even a Post-Metal one. A little more edge would have made this a true masterpiece.
The real question is why the fudge Dikajee doesn’t have a label. Hopefully this article joins the many that will help this project grow bigger. Because if you’re skeptical like me, you can’t avoid thinking this thing is interesting. And sometimes, amidst all the albums about blood, gore, and missing toilet paper, we can have one that hits you right in the feels.
