Money time!
Desu Taem – Starting Over & The Gangster’s Tutu: It keeps happening. This funny and quirky parody keeps coming back to us for no good reason. Fine, they make us laugh with these tracks that are… strange, to say the least. Anyway, you tell me what genre this is (Slop Metal?).
Aviditas: – Gentle: More Hard Rock mixed with Power Metal, making me wonder if we’re still in the ’80s or if they were 50 years ago. Now, that’s really retro! There’s also more than enough power ballad material here.
Blodtrøst – Skarprettaren: Diabolical and decadent Black Metal from Norway. The production is decent, and some of the riffs are more hostile than depressing. So, I do like what we’ve got here!
Vihlijia – Bellum Internum: Long and crushing. We’ve reviewed many of their tracks before, and I’m still rather surprised by this project’s refusal to stick to primal Black Metal. Instead, these guys give us more nuance and emotion in the mix.
Diamon Sky – Outlaw City: Yes, it’s political, and yes, it’s silly, but sometimes I need to have fun in this grim and horrible world, and these musicians deliver something that’s as catchy as it is satirical. It’s almost brave in this era of false neutrality.
KomutaroR – Season Of Storms: Heavy riffs left and right, with enough blasting to make you lose some of your hearing. It might not be the newest idea out there, but it’s definitely technical and consistent enough to deserve some of our precious attention.
Ater – Through The Portal: Ambitious, well-produced, Djenty, Proggy. I could describe this thing in many ways, but overall, I see a lot of potential in a band that clearly takes the job seriously and is trying to give us 100% of its musicianship.
