Trve Kvlt #41

Metalcatto

Same old, let’s go!

Disco From Death – Total Collapse: Strange to no avail. This project mixes your usual Death Metal with electronic elements, and there’s absolutely nothing polished about it. It’s disgusting, abrasive, and definitely not for everyone. But hey, maybe you’re exactly the kind of weirdo they had in mind.

I Tend the Light – A Terrible Enduring Truth: Weird music that makes you feel uneasy. That’s what we have here. It almost feels like a Dissodeath track that never quite reaches the point of utter destruction, instead remaining trapped in a spooky and disturbing atmosphere. Not quite the sonic apocalypse, but certainly an uncomfortable place to visit.

Ave Marais – Gloria Bellis: Slow, loud, and decadent. It feels like some strange form of Doom Metal that refuses to fully commit to the genre while still maintaining a hostile attitude. It’s raw, certainly, but with a little more work, this thing could develop into something with a following of its own.

Dranix – iNTEGRAL: It took me a while to decide whether I should cover this one or not, but hey, we’re here to listen to different stuff, and Dranix certainly delivers something different. Electronic elements, Metalcore, and a few Melodic Death Metal influences are all thrown into the same pot, with a production style that thankfully doesn’t overwhelm us with unnecessary loudness. Not exactly my usual cup of tea, but there’s something to appreciate here.

Endurus – Lit Cigarettes: Heavy and godless Death Metal. You know the drill: breakdown after breakdown, with enough brutality to keep your neck busy for a while. The production is actually pretty good for such an underground project, though, and the bashing is absolutely disgusting. You might even enjoy this more than your usual Trve Kvlt jam.

The Art of Falling Alone – Apex: Another track that took me a while to decide whether it deserved a spot here. I guess we could describe it as dark, retro-inspired Hard Rock. It almost feels like being locked in your room on a rainy afternoon, with nowhere to go and nothing particularly exciting waiting for you. It’s a little complicated, but it gets straight to the point, and sometimes that’s perfectly fine.

Godpreya – Can: What a track title. Djent-inspired riffs meet an intense, dark-sounding vocalist, and I can’t help thinking this sounds a little like old Slipknot. Whether that’s a compliment or an insult is entirely up to you. Just don’t expect any crazy blast beats or relentless speed. Things remain comfortably within mid-tempo territory.

Amerakin Overdose – Parasite: It really doesn’t get edgier than this. The track takes us straight back to the golden days of Nu-Metal, assuming those were actually golden days to begin with. Still, I can’t deny that the final product sounds professional, and it might remind you of those cargo pants and MP3 players you now have to explain to younger generations as historical artifacts. Nostalgia is a strange thing.

SoulGrieg – The Misosophist: You know a band is serious when you need a dictionary just to decipher the title of its track. Dark, depressing, and unforgiving, this is Death Metal designed to make you feel sick. It’s that kind of slow burn that either deeply disturbs you or completely mesmerizes you..
