Your favorite teenager underground Dark Metal (Symphonic, Doom, Gothic, Black, Death Metal – to name a few) specialist is back with an answer to a question most of us have probably got. Or, at least, to a question I’ve been getting since I first mentioned my musical styles of choice: is it really worth going to a Symphonic Metal show? To be brief, yes. Why? Find out in the next few lines.

If you’re reading this, it means you’re probably either very curious to find out who Cradle of Filth are, or you’re here to eventually correct me, stating things such as: “you are not trve enough.” Before we dig into the (sort of traumatizing) history of the Cradle, I think it would be alright for me to let you know how I, your laid-back Symphonic Metal fan, first started listening to them. It was a warm summer day, in 2025… No, let’s take it from scratch.

You’ve probably been waiting for my take on guitar solos, so here it is — but first, a quick intro. My musical taste spans from Pop Rock and Indie to Brutal Death and Black Metal, and my picks reflect that range, though I’ve kept the Black Metal to a minimum (I know not everyone’s a Burzum or Darkthrone fan). I could ramble endlessly about what makes a great solo—or why “Nymphetamine Overdose” by Cradle of Filth and Liv Kristine is, in my view, a more refined take on Symphonic Gothic/Black Metal than “Nymphetamine Fix”—but I’ll spare you the tangents and get straight to the list.

The sun was rising over the Metal Kingdom.
Slowly, lazily, its first weak rays crept over the woods surrounding the capital and almost got lost in the misty shade. But on they crept, on and on, until they touched a village that was huddled at the very foot of the Metal Hill. On top of the hill an impregnable castle was perched, its battlements barely lit with Aurora, its high walls proud and sturdy.

The people have spoken, and we started a new section, filled with hunger and ambition—but let’s see how it goes. Imperial Triumphant is the definition of a band of rich kids that went to art school. Nothing wrong with that, because I’m a huge fan! In fact, IT is New York’s response to French Avant-Garde/Black Metal hegemony, and as much as I love that scene (despite its controversies), who the fudge wants to be ruled by the French? Let’s start this countdown as a celebration of the upcoming release Goldstar.
Today we get out the first round of EPs that were submitted a few weeks back. If your material isn’t out yet, don’t panic. The cue is slowly moving. Bureaucracy takes times, but it works, right?
