SPACE CHASER – Razorblade Bay

The promotional sheet for this record was written in charming broken English, so to honor its attitude, my introduction will follow suit: SPACE CHASER is super radical Thrash metal band from great country Germany serving up a science fiction-themed album full of surprise! Their upcoming record, Razorblade Bay, is thirty minute of high-speeds thrashing from the four-piece band, forming in 2011 and has releasing three previous albums. Long-winded appreciation aside, it’s time SPACE CHASER presents another Teutonic-esque platter of speedy Thrash. The preservation of Sodom, Kreator, and other Germanic titans’ aesthetics is an act I greatly appreciate–Kreator itself succumbed to the symmetrical illness plaguing modern-day covers (Krushers of the World, 2026). This styling begs a question: can they maintain a modern feel on a new label while still paying respect to their founders?

Temple of Dread – Deadspawn Dominion

It’s been a while since we’ve had something more Thrash Metal. You know, an album mostly focused on speed that feels like a knife fight. Temple of Dread is bringing us somewhere well-balanced Death and Thrash that should make you feel like the tectonic wave is back and well—not just Kreator. Anyway, Deadspawn Dominion has a cool name, but is it cool Metal? Stay put, and maybe you’ll find out.

Arroganz -Death Doom Punks

Arroganz comes in with an album titled Death Doom Punks, which is such an edgy combination of words that I honestly thought I was reviewing Metalcore again for a moment. But no, this isn’t some poser melodrama. It’s something genuinely serious—as in Death Metal serious. But of course, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The band will need more than just throwing a few heavy riffs and hippo sounds my way to convince me it’s legit. I’m cranky today if you can’t tell.

Bonginator – Retrodeath

I was convinced that this band’s name was “Borginator”, so trying to find them on Google was not even slightly fun. Anyhow, this review is for all those of you who like Death Metal, fun, and doing questionable things, like smoking weed. Actually, there was this person on Reddit who said that Bonginator has “great songs, stupid lyrics, ’80s style intros.” And that pretty much sums it all up. How? Let’s find out.

Azure Emote – Cryptic Aura

Azure Emote’s Cryptic Aura is what happens when you combine Monstrosity with Eluveitie and Sirenia. If that sounds bizarre to you, you’re not alone. I wasn’t sure what to expect from such an eclectic group of musicians. To be honest, I had little time to overthink it—just got back from vacation, still in a food coma—but I figured this was a worthy shot to give a band some exposure. Whether that turns out good or bad remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: it’ll be honest. Even money can’t change our strong opinions at MER!

Rats of Gomorrah – Infectious Vermin

Well, I wonder what comes to mind when you hear the name Rats of Gomorrah. It’s quite vivid, isn’t it? But is Infectious Vermin as biblical as the band’s name might suggest? No, of course not! In Metal, brutal words are often used as salad dressing—they enhance the experience, but we could also do without them (this is the part where you confess you haven’t touched a salad in years). I know you’re here for the rats, so let’s get to it before wrath takes over again.
