Therion – Con Orquesta

Vicky

When talking about Symphonic Metal bands that have both excellent music, and a good internal collaboration between artists, Therion is one of the first examples that spring to mind. From their Death/Black beginnings, all the way to Symphonic and Operatic Metal, the group have proven to us numerous times that they can perform alongside musicians from pretty much any genre, and that their lyrics can cover a wide range of topics.

From Classical Music, to Metal, and Beyond – Interview with Thomas Vikström (Therion)

Vicky

As a Symphonic Metal enthusiast, my heart is overfilled with joy when I tell you that I have recently spoken with Thomas Vikström (whom I must thank once again for this opportunity!), Therion’s talented lead vocalist, about his entire career, and numerous preferences, including his beverage of choice, and a top 20 songs he currently loves. Enjoy reading this interview and don’t forget to get back to us with some feedback.

Vicky’s Top Black Metal Albums of 2025

Vicky

I listened to Black Metal this year. And a lot of it. So, I’m here to tell you the things that worked, as well as the ones that did not impress me, in terms of music as an overall. Today we focus on the good, the mean, and the evil (or the less evil), in Black Metal. We’ve covered a part of these albums in the past (something that shouldn’t be a surprise), but I’m trying not to repeat what has been said before about these materials. This is just a ranking I’ve made very quickly, without browsing extensively for lyrics, so beware.

Vicky’s Top Albums of 2025

Vicky

Since I’m the youngest member here, it seemed fit to try and include as many genres as humanly possible. Also, this is like the third variant of my incredible list, so please be patient. Just remember, the correct question is never “oh, what did Vicky include in her list?”, it’s “what didn’t she include?”… Here it goes, the long overdue list, featuring dramas, friends, and spoilers:

Lord Of The Lost – Opvs Noir Vol. 2

Vicky

There are times when I’m starting to feel as if I were a dad wearing an AC/DC T-shirt and wondering why the kids nowadays are big fans of Sleep Token. It’s stupid, I know, but Lord Of The Lost (LOTL, not LOTR, that is) brought that feeling back. Second listen in, and I’m still pretty unsure as to why this band is so popular. Basically, we are dealing with a band that somehow managed to pick up the strangest elements from Mono Inc., Lacrimosa, Deine Lakaien, and Depeche Mode. Blending those with some Electronic-infused Dark/Goth Rock, you get LOTL.

Vicky’s Top Artworks of 2025

Vicky

I decided to eventually stop procrastinating, and finally get to writing this article, and actually give you what you guys have been asking for for a while, a top best artworks made by a person lacking in any sort of drawing skills whatsoever. But, I make up for that with my writing skills, you have to give me credit for it. Without any further do, here are the three albums I really liked, artwork-wise:

10 great songs that were released in 2025

Vicky

Before our calendars even think about telling us that we have entered the realm of December, I think we need a top 10 songs that have been released throughout 2025 just to motivate us. Now these tracks have been carefully selected by yours truly after spending 11 months listening to almost every single new material that Spotify could provide in the Rock/Metal domain, as well as going to different shows in my beloved homeland.

Guitar solos to break you and heal you part 3

Vicky

You’ve probably been waiting for my take on guitar solos, so here it is — but first, a quick intro. My musical taste spans from Pop Rock and Indie to Brutal Death and Black Metal, and my picks reflect that range, though I’ve kept the Black Metal to a minimum (I know not everyone’s a Burzum or Darkthrone fan). I could ramble endlessly about what makes a great solo—or why “Nymphetamine Overdose” by Cradle of Filth and Liv Kristine is, in my view, a more refined take on Symphonic Gothic/Black Metal than “Nymphetamine Fix”—but I’ll spare you the tangents and get straight to the list.

Five good albums you probably never heard of (’90s edition)

Vicky

To make this introduction brief, I am just going to say that I realised these days that the ’90s as a decade had marvelous music, both Rock, and in Metal. Given that there were so many great albums released during that time, I’ve decided to make a short list containing five of my personal favorites – that are also sometimes overlooked. Let’s dig into these five underrated masterpieces.
