Multiwomb – Anatomy of Gorelust

Metalcatto

Sometimes this Metal reviewing gig makes me wonder what I did to deserve this. When a band named Multiwomb comes in with an album titled Anatomy of Gorelust, it’s entirely my fault if I decide to dive into something that’s obviously not going to sound like a kid’s Sunday cartoon. In fact, this album has everything to make more than one person lose their appetite or burst out laughing at the sheer over-the-top madness contained within. Let’s go.

So yes, Gorelust is ridiculous in many ways. It’s crazy brutal, crushingly heavy, and packed with lyrical content that could probably make Cannibal Corpse blush a little bit. The band’s sound sits somewhere between Cryptopsy—those drums, seriously—and Defeated Sanity. So you can expect a level of attack that borders on the absurd. There’s nothing but brick-like riff after riff shot at you with zero concern for your sensitivities. This thing is like getting your teeth pulled out without any painkillers, except the dentist is wearing corpse paint and laughing at your suffering.

I’m not even going to dare write the titles of some of these tracks, because the imagery they convey is colorful to say the least. Yes, they’re edgier than a gothic thirteen-year-old, but they provide a fitting introduction to all the gory, rancid beatdown the band can deliver. Gorelust is simply as punishing as it gets in terms of Brutal Death Metal. It’s a horror film with no intro or buildup—just slaughter from the first second to the last. The production captures every blast beat and guttural roar with clarity, ensuring none of the violence gets lost in translation.

Now, the actually horrific part. Let’s face it, Multiwomb isn’t writing a romantic heroic poem here. This is one-gear Brutal Death that doesn’t try to offer much else in terms of variety or dynamics. Also, some of the content is so exploitative and over the top that it starts to take away from the music itself. Like, how many songs can you make about various anatomical lady parts before it all becomes numb? The shock value wears thin, and what’s left is the uncomfortable realization that you enjoy this thing.

So, if you want unstoppable blasting that will get you on a watch list for potential lunatics, then Gorelust is exactly what you need. It’s not a revolutionary release by any stretch, but the band delivers exactly what the album promises with that equally grotesque artwork. There’s no deception here, no hidden depth—just pure, unapologetic brutality for those who crave it. Now, I need a shower after all that hemoglobin ended up all over me.
